The species H. latifolium receives the names of Inhaíba, Inhaíba-de-rego, Inuíba, Sapucaiú and Inhaúba, in the states of Espírito Santo and Bahia.

É árvore de grande porte, porém sem informações detalhadas sobre suas dimensões e aparência.

Wood features:
Light brown heartwood slightly yellowish, becoming reddish-brown with age; sapwood clearly demarcated, light in color, slightly yellowish. Smooth surface to the touch and not very shiny; straight grain, medium texture; imperceptible smell and taste.

Region of Occurrence:
It is common in upland forests in the region of Belém, in the lower Tapajós and Santarém. Considered as a species of frequent occurrence in the states of Amazonas and Pará; possibly also occurring elsewhere in the Amazon region.

Physical-Mechanical Properties:
Jarana wood is hard and heavy, with high mechanical strength and medium shrinkage. It is reported to have high natural resistance to attack by insects and rotting fungi.
