Its leaves are compound, with densely hairy-white leaflets on both sides when young and, once adults, glabrous on the upper side and silvery on the underside. The flowers are gathered in terminal inflorescences, with yellow flowers measuring between 17 and 33 cm in length. The fruits are cylindrical capsules, coated with velvety material.<\/p><p><strong>Places of Occurrence<\/strong>Naturally occurs from Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais to Rio Grande do Sul and Northern Brazil<\/p><p><strong>Wood<\/strong> thick, hard, compact and long-lasting even under conditions favorable to decay.<\/p><p><strong>Ecological Aspects: <\/strong>Deciduous plant characteristic of pine forests and highland forests. It presents wide, but discontinuous, dispersion, occurring more frequently only in the southern states. Flowering occurs during the months of July-September and fruit maturation begins in October, but lasts until November.<\/p><p>Native tree species such as IP\u00ca AMARELO are very suitable for reforestation, environmental preservation, urban forestation, landscaping or domestic planting.
